Exchanging foreign driver’s licence

A person in posession of driver’s licence issued by one of the countries participating in Convention on Road Traffic can drive vehicles in Republic of Poland up to 6 months since the beginning of his/her stay in Poland.

Bearer of a foreign driver’s licence can obtain a Polish equivalent after handing over the previous document – although Polish Minister competent for the matters of transportation can define special regulations in case of citizens of some states, due to reciprocity rules.

If the driver’s licence is issued regardless of regulations stated in international conventions of road traffic, applicant has to pass theoretical part of state driver’s exam and provide the sworn translation of foreign driver’s licence.
