Catholic and Orthodox Churches celebrate joint Easter. In 2017, Catholic and Orthodox congregations celebrate Easter on the same day, namely 16 April. A day earlier, on Easter Saturday, the faithful will have their food blessed at their local churches. Their traditional hampers should be filled with eggs, bread, salt, cheese curds, cold meat and horseradish.
